RUN CHRIS RUN premiers THIS FRIDAY! We know you're excited. In the meantime, here's a bit more about Ian Deanes, our 21.
As a reminder, tickets are already on sale at http://artful.ly/stonesouptheatreproject!
Where are you from?
Born and raised in the South Side of Chicago
What brings you to Chicago?
It's the greatest city in the world, haha. Outside of being born here, I love the people. They work hard and do what they love for the fun of it.
What is the first stage production you remember seeing?
The Improvised Shakespeare Company (Go see it)
Tell us a little about your character.
21 is a man who has had an incredibly rough life, but has an even tougher will. He is on edge at the top of the play, facing his past and his PTSD, to find a way to let go of it and progress in life.
What draws you/drew you to this production? What about the show resonates with you?
How relevant it is to Chicago and how violence is plaguing the city. I'd like to be apart of something constructive for the city, and to give back.
How do you feel the show is relevant to current events in Chicago and the US?
Currently Chicago is the number one gang city in the US, from drug trade and murder, to the absurd number of gang members in Chicago. 80 percent of all shootings and murders in Chicago are gang related.
As the audience leaves the show, what do you want them to take away from it?
Don't judge someone from where they're from but where they are now.
What is your favorite role you've ever played?
Lee from "Rocky Road"
Favorite quote/piece of advice?
Don't be afraid to knock on the door.
When you're not on stage, what are you doing?
MMA, adventures through reading, and work (starving artist).
Who has helped shape your life most? Who do you most admire?
My Mother, who without her support, I definitely wouldn't have been able to come as far as I have in acting. And my Father who has instilled a strong will and mentality in me.
Favorite actor: Sidney Poitier,
Favorite musician: Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole,
Favorite artist: Sugar Ray Robinson (a little unconventional, I know)
